What’s. Up. I’m back with another Journal post! Woot woot. Today’s topic is Matthew 5:16, for which I’ve also written extended metaphors for my Creative Writing 3 assignment.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
We puny little humans tend to focus on ourselves a little too much. In this passage, though, Christ tells us to let our “light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” A lot of us have heard before that others are watching even when they don’t necessarily seem like it. Often even the smallest actions can lead people to wonder what on earth is wrong with that Christian family, because they are not normal (in a good way, hopefully). That opens opportunities for good conversations, and it lets people know that, yeah, we’re not exactly conforming to this world, because we were called to live apart from others. Because our actions can lead people, even (and sometimes especially) non-Christians, to glorify God as long as we let our lights shine no matter what.
